STUCK Wins Best Romantic Comedy; Continues International Film Festival Tour

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORONTO – Following its World Premiere at the Oscar-qualifying 2018 HollyShorts Film Festival, STUCK, a short film by writer/director Corey Shurge, won Best Romantic Comedy at this year’s Discover Film Awards in London, England. The film also received an Award Of Distinction at the Canada Shorts Film Festival.

A 2018 Filmmatic Screenplay Awards Finalist, Stuck follows a young couple who, during a night of kinky sex, realize they have different ideas about where their relationship is headed. When a sex toy mishap lands them in the emergency room, they must confront their issues surrounding love and relationships. The film features talked-about performances by Kristopher Turner (This Life, Falling Water, Saving Hope) and Ruth Goodwin (Private Eyes, Workin’ Moms, Save Me).

Having originally worked together on the feature film The Triumph Of Dingus McGraw: Village Idiot, Shurge and Turner were ready to make their next collaboration happen themselves. “We just wanted to make something, rather than wait for something to get made, as is so often our experience working in television,” says Shurge, writer of internationally acclaimed TV series such as Republic Of Doyle, American Lawmen, and Mayday. “When I wrote this self-financed passion project, the goal was simply to make something honest. A snapshot of a relatable turning point in relationships.”

Stuck is produced by FILMCOOP INC. in association with AIR LIGHT TIME & SPACE PRODUCTIONS. Among its 2018 festival screenings: the Orlando Film Festival (EAST COAST PREMIERE), Evolution! Mallorca International Film Festival (SPANISH PREMIERE), and Ojai Film Festival.
